AA Clutch disc??

I may pull my engine soon to check bearings and maybe shim the mains, clean the pan etc etc..

I thought that I'd also change the clutch disc, set the pressure plate, and replace the transmission bearings.

I only see one clutch disc listed in the catalogs, one pilot bearing and one throw-out bearing..they do not differentiate between the A or AA..the AA is not mentioned...

Anyone know? I posted over at the aa forum also...

Looking for an exploded drawing of the AA 4-speed too.....

Changing back to a three speed is looking better and better!

Just use the A parts, the AA clutch disc was only 1/2" wider I think.

Thanks Bob, that is perfect....

Sacramento Vintage even uses the Ford part numbers....and they show a countershaft which no one else mentions

Now to tally up the damages and see if it is doable!

Back in the day, AA pressure plate's had higher spring pressures, but the disk was the same.

If it was mine I'd switch back to the 3 speed. It will be a lot lighter, cheaper and easier to do repairs, and you'll even gain a little speed due to less weight. 4 speeds are a good tranny for plowing or parades.

Re: AA Clutch disc??

The heavier spring was for the multiple disc clutch when trucks used the same 3 speed as the cars. On trucks with the later 4 speed the clutch disc and pressure plate were 9 1/2". The car used a 9". Rod

I sold a NOS AA clutch disc a couple of years ago it had the BB prefix and had a spring center. Have several used discs also, but would have to look and see if any were the spring center type. Rod
