33 inside Door handles Hi all, I posted some time back on problems of pushing back the Escutcheon to gain access to the handle drive pin. So far no luck, so I will probably have to destroy the escutcheon to remove the handle. The good book shows the correct escutcheon "40-702404" which seems to be a little different than what I've seen from Drake or C&G. Are these available. The ones currently fitted have four claws which press into the door trim and are causing some damage. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Re: 33 inside Door handles The claws or pointed tabs are original and should be straight, not bent over forming a claw. Their purpose is prevent the escutcheon from rotating when the handle is moved. Because of their relatively large diameter, the '33-'34 closed car/cabriolet escutcheons add a little extra to the challenge of removing the handles. I believe that I have a few extra undamaged originals (that require plating) if that helps.

Re: 33 inside Door handles If you had put the springs in between the door uph panel and the inner door skin ,remove them.No way could I get the handle and escutcheon in far enough to put the pin in so tossed those cone shaped springs.
