New here........

Not sure if its a "rule" but thought I better introduce myself before shooting all those questions to you guys.
My name is Bart. I'm living in the south of Holland. Close to the Belgium border. I'm working on older cars all my life but my "love" is with pre-war cars.
Thats the reason why I couldn't pass on a deal with full pallet of Ford Model A parts.

This is only a fraction. There is also a chassis, engine, gearbox, wire wheels, etc. etc.
The plan is to build a speedster. Try to go as much as possible era correct.
For safety I think hydraulic brakes but for the rest as bsaic as possible.

Thanks for the Welcome!!

Will start the frame first for a good solid base.
Have to replace the front crossmember so I will begin there.
Also need to check how to lower the car without cutting the frame...........

Re: New here........

I started cleaning the frame and need to replace the front crossmember.
Now I'm checking the part suppliers on the web but can't find the correct crossmember like the original.
Only what they call a hot rod version.
Are they available new or do I need to search for a good used one?

Re: New here........

Good used, and '28-9 (which has variations) differs from '30-31. Biggest difference between the more common early and late ones is that the late have radiator mounts about 1/4" lower than early, enough to disrupt radiator and hood lines if one too high is used. Obviously late can easily be shimmed up, but negative shims are hard to find.

Re: New here........

For good used parts (like the cross member you need) check with Bert's Model A in Denver Colorado and Arizona Model A.

Re: New here........

I'm searching for the chassis number but I can not find it.
The engine number is from march 1931 but I wanna know if the engine "belongs" to the chassis.
Is the number always on the leftside on top of the rail just behind the first cabin bolt hole or is it possible its somewhere else??

How can I find out if it is USA made or Canadian?
