Dick Flynn 1937 Ford coupe. I posted a question on the Early V8 site about a '37 coupe that is for sale on Ebay in Seattle. I asked if it was the Dick Flynn of the V8 Times magazine but never got a response. I found his obituary on the Puget Sound Club newsletter and see that it indeed was his car. The Ebay description claimed it was a famous car in the early sixties appearing it Hot Rod magazine May 1961. I just found a copy of the magazine, actually on Ebay as I didn't start getting Hot Rod until 1962 and still have them all.I wonder who kept the car so original as he built it,interior everything. It was a no sale on Ebay but just relisted again.

Re: Dick Flynn 1937 Ford coupe. Sorry I did not post number, see you have it now. It must have been a significant car in 1961 to be in Hot Rod ,which usually covered more popular 1940's or '32s. I was 15 years old in 1961 and I was trying to convince my dad into buying a local '37 coupe and always liked them. Always looked for them in magazines.

Re: Dick Flynn 1937 Ford coupe. Having lived a few blocks from Dick when I lived in Seattle and knowing him from 1973 until his death, I can say that the car is exceptional. Whoever gets it will not have anything to fix if the present owner maintained it even close to what Dick did. He was EXTREME in his attention to detail!

Re: Dick Flynn 1937 Ford coupe. Ya' know, when I was younger, I thought '37's were real ugly. I look at this car, and see the great transition that Ford did in the middle to late thirties. Great looking car!

Re: Dick Flynn 1937 Ford coupe. That's a really nice coupe! :)

Re: Dick Flynn 1937 Ford coupe. I just looked at the pictures of the car, and when Dick had it, it looked as clean underneath as it did above. He used to bet people $100 if they could find a drop of oil underneath his car. He sold it a long time ago so it isn't as clean as it used to be.

Re: Dick Flynn 1937 Ford coupe. I wonder what Dick's reasoning was on the use of a different Ford radiator other than the original 85hp one. According to the 1961 Hot Rod magazine article it was a 47 6cylinder one ,believe it would have a 15 quart capacity compared to the original 22 quarts. Bet an original 37 radiator was easy to find in 1961.

Re: Dick Flynn 1937 Ford coupe. Seemed like a reasonable price. Dick was a very big fan of Amsoil as I remember from his "Tech Tips".

Re: Dick Flynn 1937 Ford coupe. my dad was in Puget Sound chapter back in the early 70's with Dick, Dad would tell
me Dick's garage was so clean you could eat off the floors,it was a real shame to hear of his passing. Benny |
Re: Dick Flynn 1937 Ford coupe. Dick Flynn and I corresponded for a long time. He had a number of health problems that plagued him, and his annual trek to Hawaii improved his spirits, but not his body. I believe his daughter is still selling his famous "tech tips".
