Flywheel Bolts

I have finally got around to reinstalling my flywheel after a clutch problem ,,I had the face and edge machined then sent the Flywheel and clutch to get balanced all looks good,,,but I have found my bolt threads badly chewed ,out of 8 bolts I had from 2 engines I only have 2 nice ones that I can use ,,,those 2 screw into the flange on this engine nicely in all holes so this crank must be ok ,,,I did use my spare engine as a set up unit for my trans conversion and may have mixed and matched my bolts with a dodgy thread ,,,can I use store bought hi tensile bolts or should I find some good used bolts ,,? I only need 2 ,,,are repos available ?thanks from Rod

Re: Flywheel Bolts

I can't see why store bought bolt of grade 5 (proof load of 85,000 psi) or greater would not work.

Re: Flywheel Bolts

Any bolt that fits would work. Just be sure the length is right. If you use bolts that are too long, they will hit the rear main seal trough and score it or break it and cause more trouble than you can fix in a month of sundays.
