Self locking nuts OK on clutch pressure plate ?

My answer is that self-locking nuts should be OK on the clutch pressure plate. This is based on the fact that with 4 used pressure plates that I have, 3 of them did not have the lever-adjusting nuts staked. It did not look like the nuts or levers had shifted while in use, so self-locking nuts should be an improvement over un-staked nuts.

The one with the staked nuts had the weakest springs. The springs on this one were painted green. It seems like I recall mention other places that pressure plates with green springs were discussed. I don't remember if they were good or bad.

Not sure what a self-locking nut is. There are prevailing torque nuts that won't come off, but a staked nut will not turn.

The last pressure plate I installed had self locking nuts, and I sure like them better than trying to stake and unstake the other nuts.
