Red Ford radiator emblem

Did Any Ford's have the red Radiator emblem sold by Bob Drake originally?

I have heard that Canadian had black ones?

I can't speak for all Canadian cars but my original 1935 Canadian-built Ford has a blue emblem.

The '32 red porcelain ones reproduced by Drake and Vintique are copies of ones used in Europe and Australia. The tractor ones are different.Black porcelain flat ones were used in Canada only on the Model A.

English Fords as in Anglia, Prefect etc.. had red radiator badges. The new coloured ones on sale now apart from blue are hot rod aftermarket dress up items. Regards, Kevin.

As Kevin says, Ford Dagenham [ UK] used a red enamelled script emblem on the small Fords, but also on some of their commercial vehicles with B/BB or V8 engines in the mid '30's.
Canada used a very dark blue enamel for 1928 only, but then went to dull nickel plate [ s/s in '31]until 1932 when blue enamel like US production was used.

Re: Red Ford radiator emblem

Yes, European Fords used them, our 1935 Drauz German Cabriolet....see V8 Times article Vol 47 #3 May/June 2010 has a Red background with Script Ford and script KOLN underneath the Ford. Our 1932 German Ford did not have one. Some of the later German Fords had the Blue background Oval with "Deutsches Erzeucans" (I think that's how that's spelled) under the script Ford. I have not personally seen another car with a Red Oval other than our 35. All the original (let me clarify-GERMAN) black and white photo's that we have or have seen, any original (GERMAN) brochures, factory photos or existing known cars, none have or show a "RED OVAL" other than our car.......so not sure as to the time frame that the German Ford's used them.....Maybe our English counterpoints can speak to the use in England. I will post a picture of ours later today (hopefully) and time permitting.

The photo that Tiger1000 posted is one of a correct Oval with the "textured" background in Red as you see above as well.

And to Deuce Lovers comment about Ford of Australia....NOT that I have ever seen (or if so.....MAYBE the small Fords) Maybe Flat Head Ted or Merc Man from OZ could speak more informed about it but our Ute and all the other Ute's (and All other Aussie V'8's I've seen) are Blue Ovals.
