Pan Gasket Questions

I had a pin hole leak in the oil pan so I'm changing pan and need to replace gaskets they were new but looked like bacon . And the back of the pan was bent a little where it sits on the cork seal . The mark from the pan ran right out to the edge of the cork seal possible leak ? So I have a couple of questions do I trim the pan rope seal it sticks up a little ? And does the pan gasket go on the engine first so the tabs go into the groove for the cork seal at the rear ? then the cork seal ? And would brush on gasket sealer do the job ? Thanks . This was a new build but has been sitting 6 - 8 years .

Using the information in the link says to replace rear cork seal Dry ? Les Andrews vol I says place the soaked rear main cork gasket Oil or water ? I'm thinking the sealer will work a lot better dry .

I did mine several years ago using those instructions and measured very carefully what size he said to cut the rear main cork gasket and it was too short. I proceeded to install the second one and cut it according to the rear main.

If it's a bit too long, put in the ends, poke it in, here & there, to form "waves", then poke in the waves. THEN, it'll be compressed & WON'T shrink & leak, later. I've been doin' this crap a LOOOOONG time, yes, I'm OOOOOLD! Experience is the best teacher:)
