Interior Door Panels CCPU
 

The only panels I've found so far are from Mac's, and they are just plain 1/8" panel board...

Would these have been fabric covered?

My current panels are just plain black panel board, held in with sheet metal screws..and they have and aluminum edging.

Would these have used "D" nuts? The holes are empty....

And what are those triangle shaped "hooks" for, if anything?

CCPU interiors were quite spartan. I believe the door panels were just upholstery board, no upholstery material on the hardboard. There is supposed to be windlace on both side and the bottom. The door upholstery board panel was held in place with ringshank nails driven into small metal clips that snap into the holes in the inner door skin. The picture below show the round clip that snaps in the door holes and a ringshank nails used to secure the panel to the door. Neil Wilson has a nice website that shows a lot about AA trucks and pickup stuff. I believe I have the website address, but I would have to search to find it.

Thank you for that great info and links!

It seems I have bits of my original interior, though they are a little rough!

I'll have to see if I can find those fasteners and make a couple of door panels. The rest I may just leave the way it is.

Upholstery kit are relatively cheap for CCPU's - around $500 to $600. The door panels have a finishing lacing sown around the edges and as I said earlier, windlace on 3 sides. There are also the kick panels inside the cowl panels and the strips shown in you last pictures and of course the seat covers.

In your third picture the 2 hooks shown are placed into holes in the upholstery panel, then the panel is slid down so the metal hooks the top of the hole. If you just have a plain panel with no holes and no upholstery, then I doubt they are used on your doors.

1955cj5, Original panel boards are not available as far as I know. They were embossed to look like leather and had edges covered (sewn). Reproduction boards are covered with material and the edges are covered (sewn edging) to simulate the original.


The two hooks in your third picture were not used for the 82-A closed cab. The doors were T carryover. The hooks were used with T panels.


The links above has 82-A closed cab information which applies to both the A/AA-vehicles.


The reproduction sockets are plastic (originals are brass). The ring-shank nails have 5/16" heads and were painted to match the upholstery scheme (black through July 1928 and brown thereafter).
