Cutting it fine - the night before a rally 1 Attachment(s)
This was my workbench at 11pm on the night before a two-day rally this weekend. Finally got it sorted and decided that I could go after a midnight test drive!
Anyone else been in a big mess so close to departure time? Want to share? |

Seeing your carb reminds me I have to fit the rebuild kit to ours... but also, that I have just ordered a 6 Litre ultrasonic cleaner "for work" - we have 1 legitimate work related use for it, but a growing list of things from home to "test it" with! I just added the carb to the top of my list! |
Re: Cutting it fine - the night before a rally When I first got my A it sounded like a can of rocks. Climbed under it on Friday to tighten the bearings and went with the club to breakfast the next morning.

I FAINTLY remember when we had the PIZAAAAZ TO DO A JOB LIKE THAT, AT THE DROP OF A HAT!! NOW, it's a week & 6 days to do the same job:D---"I don't recomember them 2 front pan bolts being SO difficult" A few years ago, I was adjusting Minervas' brakes for a 200 mile round trip to Hollister, Ca. Discovered that the front brake rod clevices were only on the rods, about 2, (YES,TWO) threads:eek::eek:! "SOMEONE" had installed those old Sure-Stop Brake Equalizers & had NOT shortened the brake operating pins, by 5/16"!!! I TOOK MY TRUCK INSTEAD! Later, I set them up PROPERLY & they worked quite well. Sacramento Vintage still sold them & was kind enough to E-Mail a copy of the proper installation instructions. They're FIVE STAR FOLKS *****!
