flatheads on the track at South Boston Speedway

I just ran across this video and I thought I'd post it here for flathead fans to enjoy. It is possible that it's been here before.

It is hot laps so turn up the volume. It sounds like music to my ears.

Here's another video of the same cars, different race track. Pretty exciting stuff. Walt, I hope you and Ol' Ron are catching this.

Pete,

Tell us what you know about the car and the driver. It sounds pretty radical, lots of r.p.m.s.

The car is a 39/40 Ford coupe. The engine is a 286 ci. flathead, 2 carbs, Edelbrock heads, battery ignition, D&L cam. Fuel is gas. Spec tires.
RPM over 6k. I did some of the machine work.
Owner/driver is Bill Blair Jr. from NC. Bill's Dad was one of the founders of NASCAR and won the first beach race in an Olds.

The blue #56 car in the videos also belongs to Bill. Gary Llawallen drives it. Gary's Dad Jimmy was also one of the NASCAR founders.

Here's a pic of Bill's car.

OK, got it.... stay on the outside on the straight away and go inside in the curve. But where are the convertibles?
