1940 coupe body measurements 2 Attachment(s)
Reassembling my coupe body, I had to remove the roof to fix the drip rails (there were only a few spot welds holding it on), I never trusted the dimensions of the body since it was in such terrible shape, and using the roof to determine the width seems iffy at best since the roof flexes so much.
So what I need are some body measurements:

Re: 1940 coupe body measurements Pat, I've got to get over to see your 40, I don't believe there is half doz people in the country that would do a project like you have done. It's looking great. Walt

Great job. Bruce |
Re: 1940 coupe body measurements Reminds me of the song "a long way to go and a short time to get there".
You done good. |
Re: 1940 coupe body measurements I have to hand it to you. That is not a project for the faint of heart. Great job. Is it a deluxe or standard? I have a set of stainless trim for a coupe, minus the hood sides, for $130 plus shipping if you need it. You can send me a PM if you are interested.

Re: 1940 coupe body measurements Thanks guys. It's been a haul, just one goal, one thing at a time no matter how big or small... I'll get there!
It is a standard, And I just found the last piece of side trim I was missing. But thanks TJ! I hope to have it painted by the end of the month and would like to hear it run again soon after... maybe June? July? BUT ! I hate wiring! Maybe Walt can help breathe life into it again! |

Re: 1940 coupe body measurements some things I discovered during the process:
- the front doors on a 4 dr sedan and a coupe are exactly the same internally and externally EXCEPT for a small wedge shaped piece you have to remove from the top rear of the sedan door, I would wager the 4dr front doors are MUCH cheaper than coupe doors - the 4dr cowl is the same as the coupe - the first 12 to 18 inches of the roofs have the same arc - the 4 dr floor from the cowl to the back seat riser are very similar - aside from the rear body of the sedan and the rear bumper brackets everything else seems to be interchangeable, good old Henry |
