engine question 29-31

I have a spare block I'm thinking of rebuilding as a short block spare engine. it's a 29 year. Is there any difference in the 29 and a 31 early model? Is there any reason other than show that I would not want to swap that out with my 31 coupe?

There may be some minor differences but none that would cause any problems. Basically the same engine.

Unless there is something wrong with the engine in your car I would just put it under the bench. Nobody knows what the future holds. (PS, if you know what the future holds PM me as I have a few questions on the stock market)

My early thirty has a clean out on the engine pan/ crankcase. First person in the club that saw my engine said "wrong pan" and then criticized all he could find. Nitpicking all he could think of. It left a sour taste in my mouth from then on and was told by other club members to check his car and I would find a few things to point out to him also. I told him "no thanks" Let him think I believe he is a true Model A policeman. I don't give a rats ass.
