Hood Arrow tires?

4 Attachment(s)
This is the spare on the 29 ccpu...I can't find much on the Hood brand of tires...any idea how old this tire might be?

It still holds air...

But am I correct in thinking that this rim is shot?

I've seen an ad for Hood tires, but that was many years ago and in an old magaize at that time.
I have no idea when Hood tires were last sold.

Why do you think the rim might be shot? I bought a tire and rim like that about 15 years ago, but once I removed the tire I found the inner part of the rolled bead was full of large rust holes. After that I try to never buy rims with tires still on them, unless they are dirt cheap.

Looks like it was in Watertown, MA.

I remember PF FLyer tennis shoes being advertised in the 50's and 60's, and that seemed to be the big seller back then. According to the Boston News, the plant was demolished before 1970, so things must have gone downhill quickly in the 60's.

I wonder when they last made Hood Tires, as I'd never seen them sold or installed on a car.

I'd relegate that bad boy for 'display only' don't throw them away. Wouldn't even think of running it on the road. Then get you a good rim and a new or newer tire for a spare.

Be safe.

The rest of the tires are Riverside, Montgomery Wards....they were installed in 1962.....I bet the spare wasn't even touched, except for the paint.....

The Riversides are checked as you would expect. The truck has been inside ever since those tires were installed....I venture around the block with them but i don't think I'd go too much further...New tires are on that ever-growing list......

That ad is neat.....

One of the other ads read..."Put on a Hood today, forget it for a year"! How about 50 years?

I remember a tire ad featuring a small boy in pajamas holding a candle with the slogan "Time to retire!" but I can't remember the brand. Does anybody remember this?

That IS a neat ad!!

I see Hood Tire signs pop up now and then at auction, usually porcelain but there have also been a couple of single-sided tin signs, the flange variety. Would be nice to display in your garage by your Model A. Also see they sold car batteries.

Is that a 20's Packard in the ad??
