1931 Coupe top rattle When I drive my coupe there is a loose cross piece in the roof, seems like perhaps the one just to the rear of the dome light, that appears to have become loose on the drivers end. I can reach back over my head and push up on it and the car gets quiet, but as soon as I release the pressure it is vibrating madly again. Is there any chance of an easy cure here? I have a roof fabric kit that came with the car, but there is no wood with it. I would like to avoid creating a can of worms that I can't contain. Thanks in advance

Re: 1931 Coupe top rattle I really can't think of any way to solve this without pulling either the roof, or the headliner. If you are getting ready to replace one or the other, I would tackle it then.
I did my whole roof about a year ago..wood and all. When I did so, I spent extra time ensuring the everywhere two piece of wood came together, or more importantly, where wood met metal, that there was some sort of anti-squeak/anti-rattle material. I especially like Gorilla Tape. My roof is now the quietest part of my car. Good luck. Ken |
