Re: Maiden voyage with a rebuilt 59a Flathead Quote:
I bought this engine from Bill (L78CHEVELLE on fordbarn) who bought it with a beautiful 40 woodie he has. He retrofitted the original engine in the woody and decided to sell it. Neither he nor I were positive of its condition although we both had confidence it was probably good. Needless to say I was holding my breath until the other day when I got it running. I bought the Californian pickup as a basket case 10 yrs. ago. It must have been built as a hotrod in the early days as it arrived with the bed already bobbed, the rear end and driveshaft sports pitted old chrome, along with old chrome Emergency brake handle and spoon pedal. Just having a blast...... Fire engine Mike, The BIG Grin IS Right! This was right after the initial fire. Once I finally found the right timing and fuel it totally fired up and ran. I haven't seen a need to even adjust the timing. I found the sweet spot. see fire up video... https://youtu.be/LGr9w1IHu_M |
