What Aluminum Polish Works Like Simichrome?
 

I'm looking for a good paste or liquid polish for aluminum that works as well as Simichrome. At about $10 for a 1.76 ounce tube, Simichrome gets rather expensive, but it does a good job. Just wondering if anyone has found a good alternative? Thanks

Tom, Simichrome is the best I think. Getting pricey, yes. I can only find it at my local Harley shop. Another thing I use is Mothers Mag Polish. Comes in a small round plastic jar and its a paste. Most auto parts carry it. Have not found anything else like these two. Mark.

Flitz works very well, I use it in the gunshop on the Henry golden boys and silverados

Tom you may want to try Maas Polish I think Walmart has it, I had also always used Simichrome and the price is climbing. I have not tried the Maas product so can not say if it work well.

Tom. I use Mothers and have obtained great results. It is available at Walmart for half the price at Autozone. Wayne

I use Flitz for everything aluminum. I do my whole Featherlite open trailer with Flitz & a Mothers powerball

Tom, if you ever try ZEP 5 star metal polish, you will throw rocks at all other metal polish. I've used all of the ones mentioned here and still prefer the ZEP.

The plater's trick for a bright lustre on freshly polished aluminum is Baby Powder sprinkled on to remove the grease in the polish.

pollished my 83 harley with solvoautosol works like magic and alluminom looks like chrome.

I like Simichrome. I buy it in an 8.8 oz. can from NLA Limited in Reno, (ph. 800 438 8119). I don't recall what it cost, but it wasn't too pricey. NLA has a website; they're Porsche 356 guys. I can't recall the web address. Sorry.

what kind of baby powder? It used to be talc.

Talc is related to asbestos and probably baned

Flitz.
After polishing an Airstream trailer, an Aeronca Aircoupe, and a Cessna 170 from oxidized to mirror finish you become a believer. Have used simichrome and Mothers and the results were good but the difference in effort was like difference in cleaning Grand Central Station with a floor buffer or a toothbrush.
Flitz works well on stainless, nickel, brass and chrome as well.
I go through about 2 gallons a year.

I have a box of Rottenstone dry powder. Mix it into a paste, with paraffin oil, works quite well.
