Anyone from Colorado Springs

First hello my name is Brian, I am now a proud owner of a 31 coupe that was my grandfather's. The reason I am asking is, if anyone is from Colorado Springs that might be willing to help me out. I am going to try and start it tomorrow watching YouTube videos now on how to start it. But if it dont start I dont know what to do from there. Also I have to buy a wiring harness for the lights and I dont see a light switch for it as well. I do know it was running before it was put in the garge to replace the fender supports that was maybe 1 or 2 ago.

Ok. I will start. ;) Hey Brian, congrats on the Model A. :) A local club would be a great place to start. I don't live in Colorado, but wish I did. You can find a lot of good help here also. Just hang in there. Mark.

Hi Brian,

I just got a '30 coupe in January, and I love it. I'm in Texas, so I can't be there to help, but there is a lot of help on the forum, and I'd also suggest joining a Model A club. Not sure if you know, but the light switch is the lever located in the center of the steering wheel.

Did you get it started today?

Fred

One more thing Brian. When you posted "Anyone from Colorado Springs"........Not many will respond. But if you post something like,
"New Model A Owner needs help", then you might get more replies. ;) Just a thought. Good Luck. I was in Colorado Springs last year. Very nice place. Mark.

Welcome, and you are lucky to live in a good state and so close to Bert's Model A parts in Denver. If you haven't been there yet, be sure to make the drive north, and allow a lot of time to look at all the good cars and parts. Look your car over and make a list to take to Bert's. 800-321-1931

Awesome I live close to Ellicott on the Air Force base but I am station at Ft Carson. I might need your help. I will try again starting it again tomorrow, I dont think I let the battery stay on the charger long enough. Plus I dont think there was gas in the gas tank, I think that would help I will put more in tomorrow and try again.

Re: Anyone from Colorado Springs

Brian,
Welcom to fordbarn... hey... keep your spirits up.... nothing like getting it started after hibernation. Every year our Missouri Valley Region does a start up on a car that has been sitting for 30 + years. We prefer cars that have been sitting many years and are unrestored specimens! Usually within a 1-2 hours we have it running and motoring around the parking lot. We have done this as an annual event for 22 years and are 22 for 22.... Even had to fix a piston one year. Engines seized.. etc. It's our biggest event. Smoke everywhere when they start!
There are lots of great Model A folks in Colorado. Look up your closest club and join.
Be patient.. open minded.. etc. I was 18 when I joined our local group 36 yeas ago.
one guy said.. "hey kid... you don't belong here".... I'm still there and have fixed more A's than any of them and have had many great times. Can't imagine not being in the hobby. Hang in there!

Thank you for that. Also my 31 has only 1 brake light is that correct, or do I have to drill holes and put in the other one?
