Unusual Truck Cab? 4 Attachment(s)
I picked up this 1928 truck cab with a wide bed sitting on a rebuilt 31 chassis. My question for the group is: what coach builder possibly made this cab? It uses a 28 cowl (I pulled the tank off for transport) and the cab and doors are made of wood and lined in metal. Any thoughts? I plan to restore as much as possible and reinforce with steel to stiffen up the cab.
Thanks |
Re: Unusual Truck Cab? That's very interesting. Are you in the United States? I ask because I know that other countries sometimes only had chassis imported and the trucks were coach built.

Re: Unusual Truck Cab? It is definitely hand made either custom wise or plan wise to a a dealer's specs. There was a gentleman here who bought one in Australia that looked somewhat similar-Ijust can't remember where the post is.

Re: Unusual Truck Cab? I'm in the United States, Pennsylvania. It's been in PA since the 50's. The last inspection/registration is 1967 (sticker still on windshield). Thanks for the feedback, I'd love to figure out the history of such a cab/coach builder.

Re: Unusual Truck Cab? I really think this is a one-off truck; it may be a junkyard 29 coupe or cut down tudor 'cab', modified to fit the '31 chassis.
What part of PA are you in? I am near Pittsburgh JackD |

Checking Towncars, this is not the case. Phew! Joe K |
Re: Unusual Truck Cab? Just to disclaim, The cab and bed were recently set onto this rebuilt 31 chassis... the original setup was on a 28 chassis (21" wires were added to match cowl/cab).

Re: Unusual Truck Cab? Any thoughts to a value on the cab as-is?
