Terminal box grommet

Cannot get any grommet I buy to fit the terminal box cover when I use a pop out switch cable. The grommet is too fat. May be simple but I cannot resolve it. Thanks.

Jeff55B, don't feel so bad. I have the same problem with just a regular old cable. If anyone has any answers I would appreciate also. It could be I purchased mine from the wrong vendor. Anyone know a place to buy the right one. The one I have just seems like it is to hard to fit in the terminal box.

Good question. On my huckster, everything seemed to fit the way it should. But on the coupe, the thing seems to be to "hard" to get it to squeeze into the terminal box. But could be the box is not correct-will have to check.

I think on mine I used a rat-tail file to "file" the inside of the grommet to open it up/result in less stretch/make a smaller installed diameter. It now fits between the "horns" on the cover.

The file was almost the ID of the grommet and one could sort of roll it around on the file while stroking it back and forth.

I know what you're thinking.... naughty.

Different suppliers? Likely there are more than one place making them. So different quality of fit. Don't run without one. Learned this the hard way. Smoke in the passenger compartment is always something to make you alittle nervous. Rod
