Door window seals I am looking for the window door seals. I have the top and sides.
I have a fordoor S/W 160B Briggs |
Re: Door window seals Ask for Steve at Bert's in Denver. He has done couple of Slant Window cars and he helped me on this.

Re: Door window seals The S/W bottom seals are actually part of the rubber strip that holds the bottom edge of the glass to the regulator channel. The rubber strip has a lip that sticks out, and seals the underside of the gap between the door/body and the glass. Vendors sell this speciall rubber strip (it was also used on V-8's apparently).
Here is a trick for installation: use mineral spirits as a lubricant. The glass will slip right into the rubber strip, and after the mineral spirits dry, there will be no residual slipperiness. Here is a photo of an original seal, in pretty rough shape: http://31ford.dougbraun.com/All_Photos/IMG_3801 Doug |
Re: Door window seals I'll be doing mine real soon (all doors, all windows) how about more pics of top, bottom seals, top and side channel install, mine has not one seal left, only a couple of channels for me to go by. New to Model A's so I playing all this by ear.
Pics help me greatly, thanks in advance. |
Re: Door window seals I haven't bought any window side channels for about 10 years, but back then I bought some with the clips installed and some where I had to rivet the clips. I would only buy the ones with the clips installed. It was better quality parts as well as saving you some work.

Re: Door window seals Thanks Tom, nice simple tip, installed clips sound like the way to go.

Re: Door window seals Hash:
Yep, have it in my wishlist at Snyder's, building an order to do all the windows and door seals at one time. Already have the door bumpers, handles, pads and cranks. Once I get all the pieces here I'll start installing, lots of snow/ice on the ground right now, so I'm not moving real fast...come on Spring. Thanks Hash, I'll compare prices and quality before I order, I usually pit all the vendors based on those two factors...price and QUALITY. |
