Best adjustable lifters for Model A

What are the best adjustable lifters, brand wise, that you have found for use in the Model A Ford engine and WHY?

Thanks.

steve; i like the hollow lifters ,to reduce the weight of valve train components. racing has taught us the accelerated wear with heavy components. i think this also helps with longevity....kev....brand of your choosing..

The best tappets are manufactured by Colony, ...and are sold thru retailers.

Colony lifters are the best, but two of the larger vendors make their own lifters now, and they are NOT good lifters. Ask for Colony , and don't settle for any others.

Steve B31 owns Bert's so he probably sells them.

The Colony double nut lifters I tried to use had the base that was too small compared to the other lifters - single nut I believe. Vince Falter has a good section about repro lifters on his website - link below. He isn't impressed with the small base on Colony double nut lifters. I tried to adjust the double nut lifters and it was a real task as the part on the lifter base below the double nuts was below the lifter housing in the block. I suppose you could cut off the top of the lifter housing, but I don't want to hack up the block to fix a problem that shouldn't be happening.

A large foot is necessary. I get mine from Arizona Model A, 480-782-0266.

You need to know what the cam you are running was ground for.
1 inch diameter lifters or 1.1 inch diameter.
Stock original cams require the 1.1.

Yes very true, and not all info we read is 110% accurate. ;)

OK, so I have a Stipe IB330 cam. What diameter lifter should I have?

My intention is not to highjack this thread, but, does anyone still use originals ? Or, am I the only one that likes them ?

I make my own but they are NOT adjustable. (I do circle track race engines only)

Other than race applications on a model A/B engine, there isn't enough weight difference to use original type lifters.

The originals are 1,125",....I believe there 2 styles of "mushroom" heads.
Thick and thin, depending on which Model A block you have..

The only originals I use are the B lifters, but I make them adjustable. Rod
