Four banger engine pricing

Thinking of seriously about swapping out my "hotrod" four banger for a V8 flattie. Bought a 30 roadster with the engine in it and was assured it was a new rebuild and have no reason to believe otherwise. Have someone interested in this engine but have no idea as to what would be a fair price. Engine sounds awesome and runs out great. Has a downdraft carb setup, Mallory dual point distributor, alternator, flywheel is resurfaced and has a tube header. No information on the internals but everything is super clean. Can anyone suggest a reasonable price for this turnkey engine, fan through flywheel?
Thanks , Charlie

Just a thought post it on swap meet sight make offer and see what offers you get! I am sure if people could hear/see motor running would bring high money :-)

Be sure to contact your local Model A clubs (see modelaford.org and mafca.com) and put it as a for sale in their newsletter. A local sale is better for all involved.

Be sure to sell it while you can still demonstrate it running in the vehicle if at all possible.

If you could find out who did the rebuild that could be a big plus (or minus).

You'll probably get more money if you sell the hot rod parts and the engine separately.

Pricing advice can also be had on the HAMB hot rod site.

Re: Four banger engine pricing

with the modifications it sounds like it was raced / beat on that could hurt the value...

I can start the engine as it sits now. Fresh oil and new gas and she fired right up. No smoke, no knocks just a sweet rumble. Thinking value is in the $1500-$1800 range. I would consider parting it out but I'd need to be assured the engine was sold before separating said parts from the running engine.

Mike, I am glad you still have a 'sharp' eye. I keep forgetting how important it is to check the initial date of the various posts that show up on the Forum. The date does often have a significant impact on the relevance of the following responses. This post is a great example of that.

Thanks again Mike, for alerting those of us who miss such facts.
