speed odometer cable repair 1 Attachment(s)
The cable I'm referring to is the one that came in the kit I got when I change over to the T-5 overdrive. the cable is 10 feet long. Would be expense to replace. the end that goes to the transmission side is broke off. Does any one know some one who repairs these on maybe a home repair.

Re: speed odometer cable repair You can buy a new universal cable at parts store.
You just cut it to length and crimp the included end on. http://m.advanceautoparts.com/mt/sho...edometer+cable |
Re: speed odometer cable repair I had one come out in my spedo cable. I soldered it together with electric solder. Don't know if this is the accepted repair, but it has held for 10 months and the spedo works fine. John

Re: speed odometer cable repair You might want to determine why the end broke off first and foremost, is there a kink ?

Re: speed odometer cable repair speaking of speedometer cables, what's the best way to clean the rust off one and how to repaint it? Or what would you guys do? Inner cable is fine and turns free but outer part is rusty but solid and flexible still.

Re: speed odometer cable repair A lot of times the cause of broken cables is that the speedometer head is turning too stiffly. They get tight over the years as the grease dries out and the pot metal parts swell. If you can't spin the cable with the tips of your fingers, the head needs service. About half of the speedometers that I get in are too tight on the drive.
