Blue engine

1 Attachment(s)
This is a photo of Joe Drew's '29 roadster that resided in the Drew Ford show room for years along with a photo of Henry Ford giving Joe the franchise paper work. It's on display at the San Diego Automotive Museum. Question is: anybody know why the engine is blue? I did paint the engine of my '29 the current Ford blue and it was a mistake!

Re: Blue engine

who ever "restored" that engine compartment wasn't interested in authenticity.....4 blade fan, silver manifolds chrome hood latches black painted firewall......I suspect the blue paint was what they had at the time.

What Al said.

Add to that studs too long, strange choke, no engine pans.

I'm sure as can be there were engine re-builders back when that painted the engines a different color to stand our as their rebuild.

Re: Blue engine

Maybe a restoration person at the museum thought it looked weathered and painted it blue and didn't think it mattered. Notice the paint is all over the whole thing including the oil return pipe and even on the studs and head nuts. Quickie paint over with the engine in the car.

Re: Blue engine

My original engine, possibly a Sears rebuild, was red.

There is a 100 different reasons why it is the wrong color. If you want to see an array of colors go to a car show. You likely won't find two Model A engines the same color. Wayne

Re: Blue engine

The blue engine is just the way the museum received the sport coupe (not roadster) from Drew Ford. It has not been touched by anyone at the museum.
