Re: okay so whats better for our A's (winter doldrums) Number 9 seems to be the most reliable in a Model A
|
Re: okay so whats better for our A's (winter doldrums question) I have #2. That's what it had when I bought it. Have thought of a few ways to improve that, but for now I have just put up with it.

Re: okay so whats better for our A's (winter doldrums question) If the lady riding shotgun with me had a long left arm, I'd say number two.

Re: okay so whats better for our A's (winter doldrums question) I have fixed vacume wipers in the distant past . I couldn't fix the one on my 31 tudor. Finally dropped and broke the damn thing . I bought a rebuilt one from Don Turley at the shade tree model A club swap meet in Augusta in 02 or 3 for a good price. Its still working like a charm . My roadster didn't have one when I got it. I bought a good used standard roadster wiper motor on eBay for just under $250.00. Deb and I have got caught in two heavy thunder storms in the roadster with no side curtains , got soaked but the used wiper motor got us by. The early 30 AA that I had used a hand wiper that I got from Steve at Berts. The hand wipers actually work purdy good but use a different upper windshield frame piece .I've got a new repro electric wiper motor on a shelf out in my museum. I doubt it would be what you would want because it wouldn't look right on a tudor .

Re: okay so whats better for our A's (winter doldrums question) I have #6 in my '28 Roadster Pickup.
Works surprisingly Well and only when needed! |
Re: okay so whats better for our A's (winter doldrums question) RainX is they best wiper I have had. Took the electric off the roadster and never put it back on. I have just finished reworking the wiper on my, new to me, coupe. Vacuum. She's a no work. Found an old one in a drawer that has been there for 22 years and it works like a new one. Just lucky some times. I still like the RainX

Re: okay so whats better for our A's (winter doldrums question) hand wipers work the best, most reliable, no maintenance and trouble free.......oh and I never drive in the rain or foggy days so I don't use it but it's a great topic for discussion when folks want to see the cockpit up close.....
