Re: oil pan problems

engine pan flange needs to be flat. I use cork that I soak in water, then spray paint with aluminum paint.
There are threads(previous discussions) on installing the pan.
no torque wrench, snug is good. If you squeeze out the gasket you distorted it, and it will respond by probably leaking.
the original pan bolts will fracture if too tight.
I use pieces of cotten butcher string to hold the gasket in the correct position to install. put the front end on good, strong engine stands so you can swing the front wheels from side to side to access the front bolts.
I have a little extra trouble installing the flywheel inspection plate.

Is the drain plug leaking? Are there pin holes in the pan?
Both can be soldered, brazed, or welded.

Old style cork not the new rubberized one. If you insist on using the rubberized one READ THE DIRECTIONS several times. Very little torque on the bolts is needed.

The guy who came up with this and who's hands are in the picture, is the person that built my engine. Including the babbit. It took a while, but it's a hell of an engine. ( not the writer)

Forget the gaskets, use RTV
