Question of fit of roadster windshield frame.

How does the rubber seal on the bottom of a roadster windshield frame supposed to fit? Does it sit in front of the top of the cowl/dash rail or is there enough gap that it sits on top of it? Meaning, does it seal the gap or sit on the metal in front of it.

I hope this makes sense.

The bottom seal is for sealing out wind and rain. It should go on the outside or it wont do what is supposed to do.

Gotcha. Thanks. Reason I ask, I'm looking to chop or purchase a chopped windshield frame and needed to work out proper fit.

So, how much clearance should there be from the bottom part of the frame and the top of the rail?

You don't mention the year of your roadster - here's a link to an older thread with some info for 28-29 roadster windshields if that happens to be what you're working on:

On mine, if there is enough wind it will sometimes push that rubber inside! :)
Then I have to tighten up the cranks at the top.
