1931 Victoria Leatherback Wood Frame

I am restoring a 1931 Victoria leatherback, when I purchased the car a new wood frame had been installed in the car. None of the wood framing has wood presevative on it. Should I remove all the framing and put wood presevetive on it or not?

Probably not. The lifestyle this vehicle will live from here on out will likely mean it is stored inside a garage and rarely seeing inclement weather. IMHO, it is not worth the effort at this point to seal the wood.

The original wood had a preservative on it. Do not remove the wood to preserve its fit. Apply a sealer such as Thompson's Water Sealer. Spray it into places where a brush doesn't fit.

I'll bet you can even twist a few pipe cleaners together and bend them to fit around hidden corners to apply the sealer.

That sucker has a hundred nails in it holding the body to the frame. Removing it would be a nightmare. It is the areas you can't get to that would in many years start to rot. Finish up and have fun with it. Let the next guy worry about it.

Tom,
Good idea, the pipe cleaner! Thanks.
