I personally think it would be a much better 'haul' for someone if it were about $1,000 less money. No frame, no title, no warranty, ....IMHO all someone would be buying is core parts for a restoration.

I appreciate you sharing but how much would you value each of those items in the lot?

I agree with Brent. It's a quite pricy for what it is.

You guys would be better placed to comment price wise, being on this side of the pond I'd find it useful. Just thought the post might be useful for someone.....

I appreciate your efforts Kevin. I do the same spotting, it is up to the buyer to figure value.

In this case it sort of looks like someone is H.A.M.B.ing the car. Remove all the old drive train sell it and hopefully have enough money to install modern suspension and an sbc. Oh well.

Re: Saw this for sale & thought I'd share

just goes to show how cheap parts are here in the US-overseas I am sure these parts would be considered reasonable. and then of course the cost of shipping.............

Charlville 01-06-2015 08:22 AM

Re: Saw this for sale & thought I'd share

It's also the availability over here, we can get mostly the same repop stuff that's available in the US, but it's £ for $ plus shipping so it's expensive. I was recently offered a used US spec engine at £350 which at current exchange rates is around $530, so that's why the price looked kind of OK. As Sixseven rightly implies, prices are quite often dictated by need :)

I assume it is like "train spotting", which is very big in the UK. That is looking for for good model A buys.

Or it is what your model A does to your garage floor!;)

Same thing as searching for parts.

Yep, it looks like another A getting rodded. One would have to hear the engine run or at least talk to the owner and hope for an honest description of it. I noticed the shocks are still on the frame, but not correct for an A.

It's what YOUR Model A does to your garage, and your dog does on wives new carpet.

Hey Kevin,
Thanks for sharing, eh ;) !
He's in norcal, I'm socal , aka lalalalnd. I'd give him $500. for what I see and condition unknown...just to keep it from going to you know where !

Spotting (verb, def) Sniffing internet for best place to mark territory. Then send a note out to everyone possible that sniff revealed possible territory for someone else's benefit.

If I like the part, it ends up in my garage. If it's on the wife's brand new white carpet try Oxysolve, if it is under your car on the garage floor, it must be normal.

Just to let all you guys know the parts sold for $1800 cash in a week the car is being Hambed out as you call it cause no ones wants to drive 30mph I installed a 8ba flathead T5 tranny and a 39 rear axle with all 40 juice brakes cause once you go over 30mph you need to stop. I appreciate you posting it here but I think you indeed under estimated what "left overs" are worth

To be excused. Different market.

And Hamb'ed out is a death sentence to a Model A.

True a birth of something else. But only the next buyer in line is qualified to tell the value of that - and put a number to it.

And even he may be value challenged.

Different strokes for different folks.

Did anyone get the license plate number for that "hit and run" reply.;);)

Re: Saw this for sale & thought I'd share

Regarding 'hambed-out', there is hope. I had a 28 A RPU, back in the 58-64 period. It had a 56 sbc, 39 trans, A rear end, and Lincoln brakes. I saw it a couple years later, and by then it had a bbc. Fifty years went by, and in 2014 I became curious to know if the car still exists. I tracked it down, and the current family that owns it has totally restored it to stock. In fact, the son that I talked to, didn't even know about the sbc & bbc history. No evidence is left, except that it is still registered to the sbc engine number that was with it 50 years ago. So, as said, there is hope. JMO
