Driving is a full time job, especially with some of the crazy's on the road today. People eating, reading books, talking on phones, shaving, combing hair, putting on lipstick, etc. Two years ago I saw a woman with a book in the steering wheel, hamburger in her right hand, cell phone in left hand and steering with her knees.:eek: |

We really don't take my Harleys out much anymore due to what you said above. Driving in the DC metro area we've seen it all. My two best moron stories involved one dude driving 75 mph the highway with his left foot on the dash, guitar in his lap, left hand on the neck and right hand strumming, musta been on cruise control, he was steering with his right knee in rush hour traffic! The other traveling 80 mph with an open laptop STRAPPED to the steering wheel and phone in left hand. These types need to hit bridge abutments!! |
Re: Enclosed transport New Jersey to Maine TomW,
I now know a bit more about the term "they're a good driver..." Driving a Model A truly explained that to me and with the 1 - 1.5 in. of steering play, one has to be a good driver... ;) |
Re: Enclosed transport New Jersey to Maine There is a site with Reviews, but not sure I trust it: http://www.transportreviews.com/
I have personally used Intercity to move a model A from OH to NJ. The transport is great, the drivers are great, but be patient for scheduling. They say 2 weeks, but it is more like 4-6 in my experience. I have also used a broker that used a dually with a small 2 car enclosed trailer. While everything worked out fine, I was more satisfied with the professional drivers at Intercity. Just my opinion. Matt |
Re: Enclosed transport New Jersey to Maine I am thinking of using a local transporter that has an enclosed trailer. One man operation. He is asking $2 loaded mile does that seem like a fair price?
|
Re: Enclosed transport New Jersey to Maine That sounds fair for an enclosed truck IF IT IS INSURED IN HIS POSESSION.
No insurance and I'd pass on it |
Re: Enclosed transport New Jersey to Maine 2 Attachment(s)
As a transporter (both enclosed & open) I can tell you to NOT use insurance as the determining factor for choosing a transporter. Do a Google search of any potential transporters. There are a lot of hacks out there. You should have your own insurance on the vehicle, that way you are sure you are covered for the amount you feel comfortable with.
I would have loved to help you with this transport, but I am already booked for all of January. Best of Luck |
Re: Enclosed transport New Jersey to Maine You might check with Jim (TrulyVintage). He was in NY/PA last week.
Disclaimer: I have no connection with Jim, nor have I used him. Just see his posts here on FordBarn all the time. |
Re: Enclosed transport New Jersey to Maine Ouch!!!!!!!!! That poor Corvette.

Re: Enclosed transport New Jersey to Maine I have helped on the receiving end of several of Jim's transports to the MTFCA Museum and can say you won't find a better, more conscientious person to work with. Jerry K
