1935/36 Ford Hood Question

Sorry, mis-posted.. I am re-posting in the `Early' section.

I am restoring a 1935 1-1/2 ton truck, with very little previous experience and knowledge.
The hood on my truck appears to be in good condition, under about 1/2" of bondo from years ago. The bondo is falling off, and the hood itself is quite flimsy, and in my opinion, appears to be too `soft'. There are no obvious thin spots, it just seems over all soft and weak.

When you lower it from an open position, the top flexes so much that the inner part of the top makes contact first, and has to `form' itself to the cowl to make the curve.
I have no previous experience with older vehicles.. is this normal, or did someone sandblast so much material off that is now too weak to work correctly? It seems to me that paint (or obviously bondo) cannot stay on a surface that is that flexible.

Do the hoods from this truck have that much flex to them?

You'll probably get better answers sooner if you post your question in the "Early" section.
