I really wonder how much SHILL bidding is going on to drive the price up.

Whether or not there are any of your imaginary 'SHILL' bidders, the final bidder is the one who is willing to pay the price for the item, otherwise it would be your imaginary 'SHILL' bidder that owned the item.

P.T. Barnum's saying was... A sucker born every minute! or something like that. Some people have more money than brains. I just can't fathom that kind of $$ for something like that. Shows you what little value some put on money.

Pretty familiar with W.C. Fields and his work--struggling to see how he fits into this topic.

A while back 1936 Ford breather scoops ran the same course on eBay.One scoop sold for way more than it was worth and every body who had one thought they were gold. You really can't blame anybody it's just human nature.Ebay has proved to be a double edge sword.

I know a guy that pd $75.00 on Ebay for a Ranchero gas cap. C & G has them for a lot less.

When you look at the bidder's history page and they have done 100% of their historical bidding (or nearly 100%) with this particular seller, you can be pretty sure they're a SHILL.

As far as the final bidder-- if it's a SHILL then the transaction never really goes through, if not, then the buyer has been snookered. It may not be illegal but still seems awfully unethical.

The people that pay the outrageous prices for things like this and drive the price out of reach forever, are the ones to blame. Not the people selling.

I was thinking the same thing last night as I watched a Ferrari GTO sell for $34.5 million dollars at auction. That bidder ruined it for everyone.

A "package deal" at $7,500 ought to be fair to buyer AND seller! DD

All the bids that you see that are made by a particular bidder are made until his bid exceeds a maximum bid made by an earlier bidder on an earlier time and/or date.

Yes I know that. I think you missed my point. On the first page it tells you how many bids were made. Click on that to see who the bidders are.

The bidders have their true names disguised by ebay, but if you click on their name it shows you a 30 day history. If their history says that all of their bids have been made with this same seller, then something stinks in Denmark.

It especially stinks if they are a newbie with little/no feedback history. Chances are their identity was fabricated just to shill for this particular auction.
