What is the correct color for the Pickup Chains and hooks?

I just received my Chains, Large Links, Hooks and covers for my pickup bed.
They came bare metal and the chains are primer coated. Did these come Cadmium Plated in 1928 - 1929? My Truck is Black, it seems like Silver would be a good Color choice. The chain covers came black. I bought all of these pieces from Snyders.
Snyders shipped in 2 days.Great Fast Shipping!!!

I believe they are painted the same color as the bed.

The last one that I did was painted black. Black may not have been correct but looked right to me .

i had mine painted the color of the bed which was green. 3 people last summer told me it was incorrect and they should be black. Because I am a fun truck and car person and not a fine point person I did not have them respray them. They look great green.

Green may be correct and does look good. I didn't research the color. My thought was that black would add detail. Mine are all just fun drivers.

Ive always seen them body color. Never bothered to research them otherwise.

I would say body color also. Look at picture 36 from Brent's site.

I think matching the Bed color would be correct. Since my truck is all Black it looks like I'll paint them Black.

Haha so we were arguing to paint them black... or black.

Silly me... I always thought 'rust' was the proper color.

Your probably going to cover them with these anyway
so you don't chip your paint. http://www.snydersantiqueauto.com/3002

That looks nice and clean Tom. Almost has a look of shrink tubing. :)

Being cheap, I have used bicycle tubing with a drain hole added.

If you have mirrors on the top of your fender mounted mirrors, encase the chains in clear hose. This will keep them from scratching the rims. A drain hole is also needed here.
