alloy radiator e bay

Recently there was a thread on alloy radiators made in china & sold on fleabay, by winner racing, free freight , I purchase one for a 28-29 Model A, price was good, arrived with in the quoted delivery time , looked very nice however it does not fit an original or repo shell & cannot be altered to fit , :(:( it touches the shell before the neck protueds enough to put the cap on , Been in lots of contact with supplier in china, David Wang he says its my shell thats wrong as has sold lots in the USA with no one having a fit problem , I can send it back but freight nealy as much as we paid for it , So question is how many folk here have bought one from winner-racing & how was the fit , ?? It maybe just the one i recived is faulty, It is a nice well made unit BUT it does not fit , Remember if you buy a lemon learn to suck the juice ?? Please contact us if you bought one , Derek in summer time NZ.

No won,t work as unless the shell fits right down onto tank when bolted onto frame it would be too high & hood would be on an angle, It pinches on outer edge of the tank . Im told that any heat there would unsolder the cores as they are instaled to top plate with a much lower melting point than the alloy welding . Thanks

Derek, Your experience is enough for me. I'll stick with one locally made here in sunny summertime Oz.

So many times this happens from Ebay purchases. Try for a refund even if you have to pay both way shipping. If not you likely have lawn art ! You say a good price but nothing is a good price if it cant be used !

Re: alloy radiator e bay

Yes they have offered a refund , i pay return freight ,yes used paypal, They say they have sold hundreds to USA so i have posted here in hopes someon else bought one , previous thread indicated here the buyer was very happy . Its a nice unit , well made & nearly fits. It maybe just the one i received is wrong , Return freight could be as much as purchase price , could sell it too a rat rodder , Then he could beat the shell to fit it. Merry xmas to all .

Re: alloy radiator e bay

without misleading anyone about fit why dont you just resell it on ebay
maybe a rodder wants it

David Wang eh?
I ordered a Model A radiator from him a couple of years ago and sent drawings of the size it should be.
After many weeks it became apparent that he couldn't deliver.
It then took many further weeks to get a refund and that only happened when I threatened to give a very negative feedback on Trade Me.
Fortunately, he did return the money

Yeh, you gotta watch the Chinese.

I have enquired a few times and asked the question, ' where are your measurements taken from ?

You are advertising it to fit a 28 - 31 ?

They are totally different sizes .

They always come back with ...It fits your car .... '

HaHa, yeh sure .

If these dudes made one that would actually fit a 28/29, they would sell 100/s of 'em.

Have you ever done a search and found there are dozens of ' fit 28 with flathead '

But I have yet to see one with even close measurements to a stock 28 or the inlet /outlet anywhere within a bull's roar . .

Have you made him aware of this forum and this thread? Maybe he comes to the party if you promise to post here about the one he makes that actually fits.

Here are the comments of someone that does not know what I am talking about but could he have sent you a 30/31 rather than 28/29? Or like I said I don't know what I am talking about but just a guess.

Fred . no its a 28-29 , Its close but cannot be altered , If tank was made say 3/8" less or just curved where core fits front outside edge of the tank it would fit higher in the shell & neck would protude engough to get cap on , It was about $235.00 delivered & a ruff return freight $100.00 could be more . He has offered money back if i return it , I have offered to send orig one & a shell if he pays . then they can be made correct, It was my xmas prezzy to wife , she is not happy , Wants a new roof on the house instead but at $17k its going to be paint .

I feel for you Derek, buying something close, but still doesn't fit, bites. I'd suggest what others have, try selling it on trademe or ebay, stating it doesn't fit stock shell. And if you don't mind spending a few extra dollars, buy an Aussie Desert Cooler.

If you bought it on eBay with Pay Pal they have to refund your money and pay for shipping if they want it back. Otherwise you get the refund and toss it.

Ebay said I had to pay return shipping if I wanted my $22 back for some LED bulbs advertised as fitting a positive ground car, but they were actually ONLY for a negative ground car. I told them I won't pay for something not as advertised, and I left them a negative feedback.
