correct heater

My 1951 ford Victoria has a heater that is just a plain box with about a 3 inch hinged door flap on the front, no other identification. Other 51 fords I've seen have a heater that looks and hooks up exactly the same but have DELUXE written across the front and no hinged door. Pictures in the Green book only show it from the back. Mine looks the same from the back, just curious if anyone has seen this-happy Thanksgiving to all-

Re: correct heater

Majic Air Heater was an extra cost option. If customer did not select the option, there was a blank-out plate on the left side of the dashboard below the light switch where the controls would go. The heater you have could have been an after market install. Where are the controls for the heater?

X2 on what toby says. My '51 was a heater delete car and someone installed one out of a '50 with the controls in the same location as my '50. As far as answering your question.....I don't know what the after market ones look like....Sorry....Mark

Re: correct heater

They were more common prior to WWII, but there were universal aftermarket heaters made for cars and trucks well into the '50s. Car manufacturers also had standard and deluxe heater options in the '50s.

Re: correct heater

This appears to be a factory installation, all controls, heater switch, blower, and ducts are the same. Definitely not an after market installation. I'm thinking maybe the heater core box was replaced with a 49 or 50. Actually the picture on page 192 of the green book shows the heater box with no writing or hinged door?
