Overdrive cable connection

I know where the overdrive cable connects to the transmission, but where is the correct position for the bracket and handle in a 53 Customline? I picture would be helpful.

Thanks,
Kevin

All that I have seen, including a '55 Ford, the bracket fastens on with the top bolt on the solenoid.

On my 53 victoria the T handlr is next to the steering column on the right hand side.

On my Merc there is an oval hole with rubber sleeve in the firewall, probably about inline with the exhaust on the driver's side.. The handle for the cable is directly in back of that so there are few bends in the cable.

Does this help? Sorry it's not very clear.

Looks like I misunderstood the question, I should pay attention to what I am reading.

Don't forget about the bracket held by a bell housing bolt. On the firewall as mentioned there is an oval "knock out" for the cable to go through, but I just drilled a hole in the middle of the oval rather than having a much larger hole. Also a small "knock out"
for the kick down switch located under the accelerater pedal. Charles
