Prices have changed a little but so has what a $100 will buy. I just sold two Model A projects. A 31 tudor with a completely restored chassis & running gear, flawless body, new wood kit, new steel rear fenders & all interior moldings & seats for $5500. A 29 PU minus cab for $3400. The running gear was restored in the mid 80's & was still very nice. It had a perfect bed. Both had never rusted, perfect frames. I advertised them on the Ford Barn & had no interest. Put them on Craig's List & both sold within a few days for full price. Still have four Model A's & will never be w/o one but now I have room to bring home the 37 Chevy cp. I bought back. I'm now the 2nd & 4th owner of the 37 Chevy. I restored it in the mid 70's & it's still a great car.

I paid $50 for my first A coupe in 1956 and sold it in 1958 for $75. A rate of return I wish I could have duplicated in the stock market although I wish I still had that car.

I bought my 1928 CCPU in 1966 from Bill Sturm for $135.00. Of course it needed a complete restoration. I restored it and now have it insured for $25,000.00. Don/WI

I bought my 1928 Original steel skinned Huckster for $400 in the early 1970s. Of course it was pretty near terminal when I decided to restore it.

prices of vehicles have changed greatly in the last couple of years with scrap value alone driving up prices. 5 yrs ago you could get a fixer-up vehicle here in SW VA for 100 or so, do a tune up, fix brakes etc and you would have a driver, no more... The BJ Sale also has people thinking that the rusting hulk in the field is a piece of gold.. When I was a teenager in the early 60s a 55-57 2dr Chev could be had for less than 50.00 everyday, bought many of them, cleaned them up and sold them for 100 or so, thought I was in hog heaven, should have put them in a barn! heck in 1973 I sold my '68 428 4 speed Cobra jet Mustang for $875 and was happy to get it, that is what they were going for, I'de give 25K for that car today in the condition I sold it. I never thought A's would bring what they do today, and would never have thought I would pay what I do for them, heck I pay more for some model A parts than I did for whole cars back in the 60s.
Yesterday I took my '29 CCPU for a ride to a local alcohol free gas station in Copper Hill VA to fill it up, half the people that looked at it were old timers thinking about the old days, the other half asked if it was for sale and how much, when I told them it wasn't for sale they asked how much would one like it cost, when I said on Ebay, Craigs list and in Hemmings they sell for about 15K restored they didn't blink and eye.

Paid $350 for the 1957 210 2-door Chevy in 1975, and drove it home.
Paid $3500 for the 1931 town sedan in Dec. 2014, and it took four months to get her back on the road.

WOW that was a deal, I need a tudor or sedan to drive the grand kids around in, only one at a time fits in my '29 PU and '29 coupe and that makes the other unhappy.

I am guessing Craigs list was more successful because you were hitting a local market. AS good as the deal sounded, I would have no interest in a project car in Washington living here in Danbury CT.

I am sure many of us would love to buy back a car a car we sold back in the day. Good for you! I would love to get back both my Ford coupes! BTW the 36 was an unrestored original that still had it's radio!

The grill on this 31 looks less pronounced "smaller" than on older model A's. Maybe it;s just the photo.
