Assuming you mean the inner panel as I'm pretty sure the outer panel is the same for either rumble seat or trunk. Here's a couple:

Structure to hold the spare tire bracket and lower rear panel. It is curved because the lid rotates through the area. It also moves the rain water to holes for draining.

Re: Need pic of 28-29 CURVED Panel in rear rumble area

I have always wondered if there are TWO styles of curved inner rumble seat panels for 28/29 cars with rumble seats in them. Sport coupes (and other coupes) have a 7 1/2" high outer panel below the trunk where the top edge of the inner panel attaches. Roadsters on the other hand, have a 9" high panel below the trunk. My question is: How could the same curved inner panel fit both? It doesn't seem like it to me. Does anyone have an answer.

There are 2 styles of curved inner panels that I know of. My mid-August
1928 Roadster has the earlier of the two. It's also very noticeable
when viewing the car from the bottom....easy to recognize. The ones
in the photos above are the later style....
I guess there could be an early style, but I haven't found one yet.

The curved inner panel with raised ribs is an oddity. Mark, it's been a long time since I saw your Sport Coupe, but I thought the original panel was still in place. Also, My March 1928 has a perfect early panel and the ribs are recessed.

I thought sport coupes, which had rumble seats, had the steel bracket riveted to the bottom center that was used to support the spare tire carrier. The curved panel in the picture above doesn't have the bracket and hole in it.

Re: Need pic of 28-29 CURVED Panel in rear rumble area

YES that is correct. Here is the answer to that from Doug, Keep in mind my Car/panel is a E28 Jan:
The support for the rear wheel carrier that was riveted to the curved inner pan was introduced in mid to late 1928 and had that part and the square hole in the pan. The wheel carrier upper bolt passed through the outer panel and the inner support and was secured with a nut and lock washer on the inside.
Even more interesting the parts supplies state in their catalogs that the curved spare tire support is for 30-31...

msraron, how ironic, I am in the process of replacing the rumble panel in my 1929 Business coupe. We know that the business coupe never had a rumble seat from the factory and I am the third owner of the car, so I am pretty sure it was never replaced in it's life. Best guess is that on the assembly line, they ran out of trunk panels and installed a rumble panel, who knows. I picked up a very nice trunk panel at hershey. PM me if you would like my rumble panel. I am open to a reasonable offer.

Re: Need pic of 28-29 CURVED Panel in rear rumble area

If the early 28's did have the steel piece riveted to the curved inner panel, how was the spare tire bracket supported? Was the trunk type vertical inside the outer panel bracket used? It doesn't seem like there would be enough room for it and if there was, how was the upper spare tire bracket bolt and nut installed. I have wondered about this for some time. I would sure like to see an original early sport coupe spare tire/curved panel in a car.
