Two mystery parts

This bracket is one of a pair that came with my 28 CCPU.

It had a wood kit fitted, so this looks like it nails on somewhere ?

And this, it looks like it's broken, but it also came with the CCPU .

The first photo goes on the door post about mid-way up.

Striker Shield stamped steel 28-29 closed cabs Mounts to door jamb inside striker to shield and support weatherstrip. Not sure either on other pieces.

Re: Two mystery parts

other 2 pieces are the braces for the "sun visor" on the 28/29 cabs. the sun visor is wrapped in the same roof material and these go between the 2 parallel bars that run the width of the truck cab to support them and keep them parallel.

Supposed to be tack welded to the sun visor frame - someone saved them to reuse them.

The beautiful thing about these visors is they are completely wrapped in material so as long as its structurally sound your good so you can get a tad creative and only you will know what it looks like underneath. Rainmaker Ron and I managed to make one sturdy sunvisor out of 2 bad ones and a piece of 3/8" steel fuel line. Painted it black and once its covered noone will ever know...except now that ive told you guys...

Aha, my visor frame was already in reasonable structural condition, and I see that it has 2 plain flat bars welded in to brace it .

I will leave them in too as it is not visible .

Re: Two mystery parts

yea dont get rid of them, should only be 2 per visor. keep em around or sell/trade them with someone else. used on the 28/29 closed cab pickups and AA's.

Re: Two mystery parts

There was only one brace with car anyway.

I can't see how it would have fitted, as the flat bars now welded in are flat and flush with the front and back main cross pices, and this brace is a strange shape, that would stick inwards to upset the inside lining , and how would the sewing be performed with this sticking out ?

Does anyone have a pic of an intact visor frame to show how this brace is fitted ?

Re: Two mystery parts

Are these spot welded too the frame 1/3rd of the way....on each side?
And hidden by the covering...

Re: Two mystery parts

the flat peice is nailed in front of where the door latch goes into the door post. it get nailed on the inside by the sheet metal, and the extra tap is foled over with the sheet metal. it is there so the sheet metal has something to grab and wrap around,... i had to take my cab corners back apart since i forgot to install these

Ask and you shall wish for a better pix.

This one courtesy of Mike's Affordable who may have a larger one at his website. This the repop frame which is nearly correct but missing the two holes/fold tabs on both end corner pieces where the metal ties are used to retain the fold up under the corner.
