Model A side Plate ?? I found a part today that looks very much like a side inspection plate for a Model A engine. This would be located on the front of the engine covering the outside of the timing gear. This one is not as heavy as most cover plates and feels like it could be made of alumimum. Any ideas on this. Thank You Pete

Re: Model A side Plate ?? Peter Pucak,
What you likely have is a production Magnesium Timing Side Cover. If it takes Two Short bolts, rather than one Long and one Short bolt than it will be the Magnesium cover. Go to Vince Falter's Ford Garage: http://www.fordgarage.com/pages/sidetimingcovers.htm Darryl in Frozen Fairbanks |
Re: Model A side Plate ?? the aluminum ones are 1932-1934 Model B Ford.

Is there a physical difference between the '32-'34 Aluminium ones compared to the '31-'32 Magnesium covers? The Mag one I have is just like the one on Vince's website, with two short bolts. Darryl in Fairbanks |
