Right hand steer air filter ideas Hello all,
Im missing my airfilter on my car, but it's a righty hand steer. I found an old post where someone mentioned this site from a vendor in New Zealand. http://www.earlyfordparts.co.nz/right_hand_drive.htm I wrote them but havent heard back, between shipping and the price tag, thats gonna be an expensive air filter. Anyone have any ideas or pics of what they've done if they've had this problem? This is a South American made car, maybe some friends from down south have a solution? Thanks! |
Re: Right hand steer air filter ideas Hi Rudy,
As far as I am aware these little cars were never fitted with air filters, oil filters or fuel filters. There is obviously a tiny fuel screen in the fuel tank. I believe a air filter causes them to run rich and a modern fuel filter is to dense to allow gravity fed fuel to go through. However, to answer your question. The vendors in the states supply after market filters for LHD and RHD cars. The LHD ones have a 90 degree bend from the carb moth with the filter head hanging down parallel to the exhaust down pipe. The RHD one has a U shaped tube with the filter sitting underneath the carb, facing forward. I bought mine from Snyders but Bert and the others should have something similar. GOOGLE it. Re: Right hand steer air filter ideas They are made by Stuart Shadbolt in Christchurch NZ and available at www.earlyfordparts.co.nz there is a mark 1which points downwards and a mark 2 which points forwards. I have both on different cars. Mark 2 will interfere with a full flow oil filter mounted on the valve cover.
No problem with mixture if jetted to suit and good power developed. My roadster will do 70 mph with filter on B carb and maybe more. Thats as fast as I care to go. I have a Mitchell O/D to keep revs down and dont drive above 60 mph normally. I am using a large K and N element on it on my roadster SAJ in NZ |
Re: Right hand steer air filter ideas They are right, the place in New Zealand makes a beautiful filter for the rhd. They can be a little slow to respond but they have all kinds of cool stuff for rhd A's.

Re: Right hand steer air filter ideas Yes.
Contact <[email protected]> for all RHD parts. He has aircleaners and other RHD parts. I used to stock all his parts but now being retired I just write books. He is an honest person and I guarantee he will answer your mail very promptly. |
Re: Right hand steer air filter ideas because of the rarity you have to expect to pay more for parts and in this case shipping. RHD is what it is, different and different means less and less costs more. Wayne.
