Re: New Model A owners We have owned our 1930 Briggs town Sedan ~1 month now. Enjoying it greatly. People on the Barn have been very helpful with my "New Guy" questions.
With the "A" we now have a span of 84 years of Fords... I will turn 64 in September. |

Re: New Model A owners Hi Mike,
Very good observation. I think something most guys on Model A forums "try" to remember is that vintage type mechanical parts & vintage vehicle repairs may be a totally "new" experience to new Model A owners. So, if they ask a seemingly simple question that has been answered on Model A Forums a thousand times before, give them the same kind & heart felt respect our mothers gave us when we were first being potty trained -- "everybody" had a starting point. And maybe humbly remember that none of us were born with a Model A timing pin & a Model A distributor cam wrench in our hands -- we "all" had to start from scratch & "none" of us will ever know it all. |
Re: New Model A owners If you are new Model A'er I would always suggest you join the Model A Restorers club and find a local region near you. That way you can find friends nearby who can help and a club who will give advice and tours which are really great.....www.modelarestorers.org
Great people and great way to learn about the Model A Ford! |

Re: New Model A owners I say there is no dumb question, every body should be treated with respect, especially when a topic has been hashed over hundreds of times.
|
Re: New Model A owners For the most part everyone here on Ford Barn has been very helpful and respectful to me and am very thankful...I don't sweat the little differences of opinions if the manner is a tad rough... We all have good days and bad and I figured that might be why opinions might be a little rough.... We're all blessed to have theses cars and that is what this forum is all about --learning and sharing ours experiences with them.

Re: New Model A owners Im 77 got my first Model A oct 2013 ,I had been searching for one like I have for years.. I wanted a green one to match my pickup and Cadillac. I have been working on cars since I was 18 yrs old so I do know my way around a wrench..

Re: New Model A owners I'm 79 and have a restored '31 Tudor sedan. I purchased it in Nov 2012. My best friend in HS had a '30 Coupe his grandfather gave him and I always wanted one. 62 years later I bought one and it has been a joy to drive and to keep polished like it was new in 1931. We have a great local club and must say the Ford Barn Forum contributors are the best folks and always there to help with great information.
Thanks |
Re: New Model A owners Did we not have a thread not that long ago about the doom and gloom of the end of the Model A hobby? Glad to see all the new members here with their new to them Model A's.
And as mentioned, there are no dumb questions or questions asked too many times to suit me. A lot of times I read about a new way to "skin a cat" solution to a problem. |
Re: New Model A owners Mike V Fla,
Your're correct about that post of the sky falling.... I say it was just a little cloudly ;) |
Re: New Model A owners 55 year old youngster here! The knowledge on this site is immense when trying to rebuild my 31 coupe. I'm a new owner since July of this year. I now spend my time between this site and going to car shows and asking other model A owners many questions about their cars. I can't wait to finish the car.

Re: New Model A owners 66 years young here. Got real good advise on intermittent engine noise which by the way was a dry distributor. The knowledge here is outstanding! Got my 1928 coupe 3 months ago and am enjoying the hell out of it.

Re: New Model A owners Sometimes, "STRONG" words are needed, to get a POINT across! "HUMOR" helps at times, also.
Sometimes, we get IMPATIENT, when we tipe poorly & slowly & hurting & haven't had COFFEE yet! It would be easier if we could TALK in person. Bill W. |
