First you need the correct battery hold down bracket, and 'bent' shoulder bolts, next you need the correct size (squat) battery, then you screw in the bolt to the hold down bracket from the passenger side of the firewall.

What's the trick with the shoulder bolts ? They go inside the cowl, limited space for the nut.

Fordscript, thanks for the reply, was there a special nut for the shoulder bolts?

The shoulder bolts come down from the top through the hold down bracket, it all takes a bit of 'jiggling' to get everything to go together. I dont think there is anything special about the nuts...just a regular hex.

I used Carriage bolts and put a slight "Z" bend in them to lie up the battery tie down with the holes in the firewall. The idea behind all this was to offer security for the battery, as it was being moved from under the floor to under the hood. Hoods didn't lock then and someone could steal your battery.
