I've used masonite before with good results.

I buy the material from a local custom top and upholstery shop. It is not expensive.

You will want to use a good quality waterproof panel board. If you don't have an upholstery supply in your area, you should be able to order it from Lebaron Bonney.

Several auto/boat upholstery shops here in the Twin Cities carry the upholstery board. You could look in the yellow pages for auto upholstery shops in your town and I am pretty sure they would have some at a decent price.

Here in the UK it is known as Union Board and comes in 4 FT by 3 FT sheets 1/8" thick . It is grey in colour and fairly dense . It does look water resistant enough to do the job . Maybe it has the same name in USA.

Many shops are now using ABS sheet stock, flexible, absolutely water proof. Available at most building supply stores.

Macs sell the entire precut panel set. I purchased a set for my Tudor 2 years ago and was very happy with it.
