No way Jose on starter removal Tried to remove the starter today with the bendix still on and NO AH HA :(. Even though the coil assembly/magnets were removed, the flywheel was still in the way. So YES, you DO have to take the bendix off if removing the starter. Hope this helps out someone in the future.

Re: No way Jose on starter removal hello- I think that taking off the bendix is not bso difficult IF you remove the floor board 1st. take the cap off over the bendix, carefully as I think the screws have odd size. there is a ring with a small woodruff key. if tight, can be removed with very small gear puller. next there are 2 small tab washers. the rest you probably know.

Re: No way Jose on starter removal just wiggle the starter around until you are mad, then give up and it will fall out

Re: No way Jose on starter removal Just wiggle the starter around until you get mad and beat up your coil bundles on the mag ring! Take the bendix off and be carful not to damage the coils.
