Basic Question I Cant Find The Answer To..... Recently my Dad's Coupe was the recipient of a new engine. The head on the new engine has a large 'B' cast on the top. What does that signify? I've asked six different people and got six different answers............everything from "It doesn't mean anything" to "Police Head". Anyone know what it signifies?

Re: Basic Question I Cant Find The Answer To..... Mutt
That is the second casting for the A engine (hence the "B"), which is a slightly higher compression ration (5.2 vs 4.2) and is commonly referred to as a Police head, since it helped law enforcement with speed issues. Some people call them "sweetheart" heads because of the heart-shaped combustion chamber! https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/6e...hnxk=w876-h657 https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-T...-no/bhead2.JPG Nice score! I had been looking for one for almost 2 years and finally found one 2 weeks ago! |
Re: Basic Question I Cant Find The Answer To..... Right on, thanks for the info.

Re: Basic Question I Cant Find The Answer To..... Brett4Christ has the more correct answer. They were a Ford Motor Company manufactured head with a slightly higher compression. The early Ford literature mentions them.
