Latest old car reality shows

There is a new one now where they look for old cars by airplane with a car chaser on the ground in radio contact with the airplane. I watched one where by accident the airplane gets fuel leaking into the cockpit. Then by accident they land at a nearby private air strip they just happened to see where the owner has a building with a plane and just happens to have several old cars in it. They then proceed to buy two corvairs from the guy. I question the intelligence of the producers of this particular show that the viewers will believe this many series of coincidences could actually happen. I guess I'm getting reality show fatigue.

Or how about the latest "What' in the Barn" where the bike guy gets a cryptic hand written scrawled letter that says come to my shed with $80k cash by Friday and you can buy the "missing link" 1910 Excelsior twin motor bike? They drop everything, go to the shed in some distant state at night and don't meet the seller but leave the $80k in a cigar box. They also "get" some historical documents about Schwinn from the same era. Now really, how can someone be so dumb as to believe this cock and bull story?

Just ignore the whole darn thing (the TV) and you'll feel better in the morning.

Re: Latest old car reality shows

all those shows are pre arranged, the finding of the cars, how else do you think the camera crews are there to film it, the price is all ready deceided on and the show producers pay the cash, that's why the ridiculous prices they pay for junk , the pickers show is the same way, it sure makes it hard to buy a car at a fair price, the sellers says, the pickers payed that price for one, you can not explain to them its a t/v show and those prices are not realistic, so what can you do? lol

If you ignore the TV, go out in the shop, drink beer and work on your hot rod, you will feel relaxed the next morning and almost (I said almost) enjoy going to work.

These so called Reality TV Shows are just about as removed from reality as you can get. However, they are relatively inexpensive to produce, and have a readymade audience, depending on the cable network that airs them. Also, the audience demographic is made up of mostly non-car types. Guys like us are in the extreme minority when it comes the viewers of these programs. Most, if not all, of these programs are completely "staged" with the added element of "drama" to give them a sense of urgency... purely for entertainment value. A more appropriate terminology would be Fantasy TV, not Reality TV.

I gave up watching those shows a couple of years ago. Nothing but garbage. They have to throw in the drama as they everyone like that crap. There are more networks now than there are shows to put on. They've got the term "repeats" down to a science. The best button on the remote is the "off" button!

Never was a fan of reality TV garbage. Reality TV ruined the History Channel, the Discovery Channel, the Learning Channel and A&E. Hoping this stupid fad will run out soon.

Those reality shows are about as 'real' as the nightly lamestream media news programs. No - wait! - maybe they are MORE realistic than that :D

All or most of it is fakery & propwash.

I can't stand the drama in all the shows, they're just entertainment and it's so easy to change the channel.

There is a crop of similar shows on over here.....they usually find an old knacker and " restore" it in a couple of weeks....they give a breakdown of ( supposed) costs at the end and sell it on and make a profit. No way in a million years do they do that......Ive built cars for too many years, never quickly and never make a profit...maybe it's just me?

As for tv in general........I watch commercial- free BBC mostly...No advert breaks in sport or movies etc, but more recently I bought a Smart TV and signed up for NetFlix and watch full seasons of good shows...again without the constant annoying adverts...also I can play any amount of hotrod ,old Ford and music via youtube in 46"HD.....best thing I ever bought techno- wise.

Andy, I bet a lot of those 42 minutes were going over the same thing every time it came back from the ad break...it drives me mad when they keep repeating the same bit of footage and dialogue..just padding the programme out.

A friend of mine said he went to "Pawn Stars" or gold n silver in Las Vegas. They have no shop out back to pull a car in or nor does the inside look near the same as what's shown on the boob tube! I got a kick outta asking him if he was surprised!
