'31 Door Windlace A '31 Coupe has the windlace pinched in a channel on the front of the upper door. Opening this channel for replacement will result in some potential damage if I continue with my prying attempts. Is there a proven way to open and then re-pinch this channel without ruining it?

Re: '31 Door Windlace If it's never been damaged then the new windlace with the cardboard strip attached should slide in somewhat easily assuming it's made correctly. I believe they slightly pinched it at the upper tip where it's open at the rear.

Re: '31 Door Windlace It did appear to be installed as you say, but after 83 years, the old windlace had no interest in coming out peacefully. I made a claw kind of tool out of a putty knife and spent the better part of an hour digging out the channel.
The new windlace went in it two minutes. |
Re: '31 Door Windlace I did it so the cardboard faces the outside, because I thought the cardboard would otherwise be seen when somebody opens the door to get in.
