~~ a shocking request ~~

1st thing I would like to thank everyone that has been waiting for there shocks,
I haven fallen way behind and ask that no one send me any new shocks for a while till I can get these done and sent back home.
At this point I will let you know that it is all right to start sending them again.

What I am about to say is in no way looking for sympathy.

For the past while I have been loosing strength in my hands, Always had problem in the cold but once it warmed up the symptoms continued.

Spent much time at the doctors Tests / more tests give blood then more blood.
Well last month the doctor gave me the results & sent me for a second opinion that was today.

It appears I have A L S better known as Lou Gehrig's disease ( Heck I dont even play Baseball )

The disease can not be transmitted or passed on to others,
I am one of the chosen few there are only approx. 30,000 people in United States that have this.
So there is very little $$$$ thrown at it.

Because it is so early on , I am going to be able to get in on some of the research studies. One of the hospital I go to is one of few in the country that is involved in this type of research.

I will keep on doing my Shocks ( not to be morbid here ) Till I can't do them any more.

So give me a little time to catch up & then LETS HAVE AT IT.

So this is why the sudden sell off a lot of my stable,of which there is a lot more.

Lee & I Plan on getting a good reliable driver & keep the 1934 5 window as my one project car.

If any one knows of a good reliable driver up to 1953 V8 for around $10,000
Please let me know.

If we can get one we will be going to the moonshine festival.& others drive in shows

And again this is not a sympathy trip or any thing of the sort.

I am OK with it and although I am asking for a re-deal I am prepared to play the cards I have been dealt.

:) Thanks :D

Bill,

We have experienced this illness in our family. Its difficult, but we've found people learn to live with it.

I'm sure all of us on the the Barn will be patient about shocks - just ain't that important in big picture.

And we'll all be rooting for the studies and your quick recovery.

Gordon

Bill, I knew something was up based on your posts and the pm you sent me. I am very sorry to hear/read this prognosis. I'm hoping that with modern medicines and treatments, they can help you deal with this. I like the idea of you and Lee getting a good driver so you two can join in on some of the fun touring trips that we have been doing. No matter how bad I feel, when I get in my old Ford and start driving, I feel great again. Best medicine I have ever found!

Hi Bill, JM summed it up pretty well. My Mom was in two studies for cancer and they both helped. She's still with me and hasn't had any treatments for over a year! I hope you get into a good study.

Re: ~~ a shocking request ~~

Bill,
That sure is sad and shocking news. I know from a visit years ago to Lou T's shop that the shock rebuilding process takes a tremendous amount of strength in the hands. This may have contributed to your condition. Medical research has made great progress in the recent years so Barb and I hope and pray that your treatment will have good results. Keep us posted on your steps.

Will see you on the door stoop one of these days.. soon. I am sure that everyone will join me in saying this: If you need something, anything, please give a shout out. Don't be shy.

Bugger, not good Bill, don't let it win mate. I like your idea of thinning down the coral, makes perfect sence. A driver and a project and a barn load of shock work.
All the best,
Martin.
